I spilled Olive Oil and nearly ruined my life.
I was rushing to cook and attempted to pour olive oil into the pot, but missed the damn pot. Every thought came to mind, as I watched the puddle form. The first one was “quick, use your hair to mop it up”. Then, “quick Kimme, scoop it up and rub it on your skin. Do something bishhh!”
Instead, I watched it slowly spread across my stovetop in defeat and honestly reconsidered eating for the next two days to offset the cost. Because why? I wanted carrot and hummus anyway.
I turned off the stove and stood there staring at it. Appetite lost, life almost ruined while doing my best to transmute the emotion. Tuning my brain to somehow make this acceptable.
Therefore, the stove became Jesus’ feet, and I was the woman who poured olive oil onto them, blessing him. My internal radio station had the perfect soundtrack playing “you don’t know the cost of the oil in my alabaster box”.
Hear my cry, oh lord. Please bless your clumsy , humble servant for my sacrifice. I promise to spread the word to my sisters all over the world, to prevent this from happening to them.
Word to the wise: don’t pour from the bottle. Instead use one of those fancy oil bottles that have flow control. Need to find the perfect one. I’ll update you later.
Girl, I am not my mother, who is a seasoned professional cook and makes no mistakes in the kitchen, nor am I a cooking influencer. I am me.
“Me” needs safety guards in place and prayers when I’m in the kitchen, no matter how much Chef Ramsey I watch.
